The meeting was informed about the PRASA rail carriage that is to launch on 8 August 2015, and then commence daily from 1 September. Every day a dedicated tourist carriage will depart from Cape Town Station, and stop at Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and Simon's Town. The train will return from Simon's Town at 14h30. The idea is that that potential tourists will be informed by PRASA what is avialable at each of the three stops. Muizenberg is to come up with a range of tourist offers, ranging from historical walks, to fynbos trails, village walks, surfing, kite-surfing, Zandvlei walks, beachfront activities and restaurants, etc. George will attend the steering committee meeting. Adam Mauerberger indicated that he would also attend. PRASA would make a tourist reception room available at the station.

Robin reported on the dredging which had started belatedly near the Zandvlei exit. The work was meant to have been done in April, but the finance required did not become available then. The R300 000 required suddenly became available, and work commenced on 7 July.
There was agreement that Adam's website proposal is sound, and should be accepted. The subcommittee had discussed the matter. An intial R5 000 is required, and after that R1 000 a month. The subcommittee was adamant that advertising revenue would take care of these costs. The chairman insisted that the website project self funding to ensure its success. Kevin has been working closely with Adam on the web proposal. The subcommittee indicated that a webcam is an essential requirement.
It was noted that Edwin Genade is going on pension, and has been replaced by Keith Serfontein. Gerald said that his attempts to set up a beachfront meeting with Carien Stegmann (our Area Manager) had been on a continual postponed nature. Steve said that he would formally write to Wadiah (District Manager) to request such a meeting. A copy of this letter would be sent to Gert Bam.
It was noted that members of MID are invited to attend an information session regarding the appointment and modus operandi of SECURITAS, the security firm appointed on a one-year contract by MID, and which commenced work on 1 July 2015. This would take place at All Saints Church hall at 17h30 on Tuesday 21 July.
The chairman reported that minor repairs had been done at the clubhouse during the past month. We are still waiting for a formal lease agreement.
