The Muizenberg community marked Freedom Day on 27 April 2016 by planting a garden in Muizenberg Park opposite the SAPS building.
This initiative took place under the auspices of the Friends of Muizenberg Park, which was established two years ago to focus on and promote the park as a playground and recreational area for residents.
The reason for positioning the garden opposite the Police Station was to mark the community’s appreciation to the South African Police Service for the for the valuable work they are doing to police the Greater Muizenberg area. Present was Captain Knapp from Muizenberg SAPS, as well as several other police officers, all of whom assisted community members to plant the garden. It was a commendable joint effort, which hopefully augurs well for a positive relationship and interaction between the Police Service and the community.
Funds for purchasing the plants were raised by the community, under the dedicated auspices of the Friends of Muizenberg Park.
